RIIICO has been chosen to join Berkeley SkyDeck – the start-up accelerator of UC Berkeley California. With an acceptance rate of just 1%, RIIICO made it into cohort 13 and had the great honour of pitching in Zellerbach Hall before more than 1000 guests.
RIIICO joins program with acceptance rate of around 1%
With an acceptance rate of just 1% it was surely not a given that RIIICO would qualify for the prestigious SkyDeck accelerator program – right at the heart of global innovation. Since 2012, the program has been supporting top-of-the class early-stage start-ups from around the globe providing a unique blend of workshops, advisor sessions and investor talks, not to mention a direct 6-figure investment. After successfully going through the application process, RIIICO’s founder team had the privilege to spend several months in the bay area.
The program certainly peaked on the last day when the participating start-ups had the opportunity to pitch before more than a 1000 esteemed guests of press, VC firms and other tech enthusiasts. The RIIICO team used their capabilities to pull off a stunning pitch. In just a few days, they scanned the venue (Zellerbach Hall), processed the data and enabled CEO Felix Fink to give a demonstration of RIIICO’s tech live on stage.
RIIICO’s take-aways and learnings from the journey to Silicon Valley
The accelerator not only provided RIIICO with a handful of experienced investors and a growing network in Silicon Valley but also infused the team with a new sense of entrepreneurship and innovation, taking part in the program turned out to be a true success story. “In our first years in Germany, we had already built great capabilities in engineering, deeply permeating the manufacturing use case while greatly benefiting from many close collaborations with industry heavy-weights from the direct neighborhood. By taking part in the SkyDeck accelerator program we could complement all of that with a solid understanding of hands-on entrepreneurship.” – Jan Büchsenschütz, COO of RIIICO reflected on the journey to the US.
Since returning back to Germany, the ties to the SkyDeck network have continuously remained strong. Frequent visits on both sides of the Atlantic, weekly advisor calls and an alumni pitch at Europe’s SkyDeck representation are just some examples of how RIIICO and SkyDeck keep in touch.
